YOHT opens 3rd plant in India
During a ceremony held today and attended by local and regional officials, Yokohama Off Highway Tires (YOHT) inaugurated its newest factory in India and broke ground on the second stage of work at the site. Located in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh state, the new plant is YOHT’s third in the country.
YOHT has spent Rs 14 billion (£143.9 million) to bring the plant into production with a starting daily production capacity of 55 tonnes. It estimates that both phase one and two will cost a total of Rs 22 billion (£228.7 million). The start of work on phase two was marked by a Bhoomi pooja ritual performed by Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. When completed, the expanded plant will have a capacity to produce 123 tonnes per day.
In addition to the new factory in Visakhapatnam, YOHT operates plants in Dahej, Gujarat and Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu; all produce the company’s three core off-highway tyre brands – Alliance, Galaxy and Primex.
