UK debut for new Yokohama high-performance tyre
Visitors to The Classic at Silverstone will be amongst the first in the UK to see the newest addition to the Yokohama Advan range. Following an official launch at the Nürburgring earlier this year, the Advan Neova AD09 will gain its first public airing this side of the Channel during the show, at which Yokohama will also serve as official tyre partner.
The first all-new Neova tyre since the introduction of the Advan Neova AD08R nine years ago, the AD09 maintains, in the words of UK distributor Yokohama HPT Ltd, the performance characteristics that make the Advan Neova tyre series the “fastest and most enjoyable” street sports tyres. Yokohama HPT adds that this latest addition to the range features enhanced dry grip performance, control performance, and wear resistance appropriate for Yokohama’s strongest street sports tyre.
“Featuring a new structure with a meticulous design that starts from the materials used and a new profile that delivers greater strength and agility, the Advan Neova AD09 achieves the highest level of casing rigidity in Yokohama history,” says the distributor when comparing the AD09 with the company’s other summer replacement tyres.
In addition to a finely optimised asymmetric tread pattern, the Advan Neova AD09 is made from a newly developed compound that achieves an “ideally balanced” viscoelasticity. Yokohama explains that as a result, in addition to a dry grip performance that contributes to faster lap times, the tyre “provides the controllability that enables amateur drivers to drive as fast as they can while also realising a wear resistance that enables long-lasting performance on circuit racing conditions.”
With over 1,000 race entries, the historic racing festival is expected to attract more than 100,000 people for a jam-packed weekend of historic wheel-to-wheel racing in some of the most iconic cars from the 1920s through to present day. The Classic at Silverstone will take place on 26 – 28 August.
