Police seeking information about Ranskill tyre fire
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service personnel remain at the scene of a tyre fire in Station Road, Ranskill almost two weeks after the blaze broke out, and despite conducting a detailed investigation have been unable to determine the cause of the fire. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 240 of 5 August, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Fire crews were called to the site, identified by online news sources as a premises operated by Boynton Bros & Hallam (Ranskill) Ltd., on Friday 5 August 2022. Crews continued to maintain a presence at the site to dampen down with the help of local plant operators. Police provided assistance at the scene, with an area cordoned off and local road closures put in place. Officers also assisted with the evacuation of nearby business premises.
“We know this incident has had a huge impact on local people and nearby businesses and we would like to thank everyone for their support,” says Fire investigation manager Lucie Poxon, of Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service. “Due to the significant damage the fire has caused, our fire investigation has not been able to determine a cause despite our thorough investigating.
“We have been working with our partners at Nottinghamshire Police who suspect this fire was started deliberately. If you have any information, then please pass this on to the police.”
