LD Carbon gains investment in ELT pyrolysis project
South Korean waste treatment and raw material recycling company LC Carbon announced on Tuesday that it had gained US$15 million of Series A investment, which it will use to build a pyrolysis, crushing, and recovered carbon black (rCB) facility within the country.
LD Carbon will invest more than $25 million in the project in total and expects to complete the facility in the first half of next year. When operational, the plant will be able to produce 30,000 tonnes or rCB annually, making it the largest facility of its type in Asia. The company adds that the plant will also be able to produce 30,000 tonnes of pyrolysis oil per year.
Meanwhile, within the next year LD Carbon plans to launch a new product within the next year that offers better quality and performance compared to existing rCB. It also intends to develop better quality products through continuous research and establish a business model that uses various other waste materials as raw materials in addition to end-of-life tyres.
