Galgo celebrates 70th anniversary
It is 70 years since Galgo took its first steps towards becoming a leading supplier to the tyre retreading industry. The company began producing and marketing shoe soles in August 1952 in Mexico City but soon expanded its portfolio to include rubber flooring and mats, gaskets, tubes, flaps, and, of course, retreading products.
Looking back on seven decades, Jose Suarez Jr., chief executive officer of Industrias de Hule Galgo SA de CV, comments that the mission from the very start has been to “ensure that our company and brands stand for quality, loyalty, trust, and an undying commitment to our customers.” He adds: “At Galgo, our colleagues are not just employees but rather a part of an extended family where we all share in the beliefs and values that were the foundation that was laid down 70 years ago by our founder and my father, Jose Suarez Sr.”
Taking its name from the greyhound breed that features in the company’s logo, Galgo markets its products worldwide with the help of a workforce numbering well over 1,200. Outside Mexico, Galgo operates distribution centres in Belgium, the USA and Colombia.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank our customers for the chance to be a part of their family,” states chief operating officer Luis Suarez. “We also welcome new customers to join our family and see what all the excitement is about because Galgo is not just another rubber manufacturer, and you will not be just another customer; you will be part of our family.”
