Bridgestone Turanza Eco a Škoda Enyaq iV fitment
As part of an ongoing partnership with Škoda, Bridgestone has developed tyres featuring its Enliten technology for the all-electric Škoda Enyaq iV. Bridgestone is supplying Turanza Eco tyres for the SUV in either size 235/55 R19 101T; 235/50 R20 100T (front axle or all-round) and 255/45 R20 101T (rear); or for cars delivered with 21-inch rims, 235/45 R21 101T XL (front or all-round) and 255/40 R21 102T XL (rear). The tyre maker also offers Škoda an 18-inch tyre that is not fitted to UK-spec models.
Enliten helps reduce tyre weight and rolling resistance while supporting the Enyaq’s handling and wet grip. Bridgestone says the Turanza Eco tyres featuring the technology reduce rolling resistance by up to 30 per cent and weight by up to 20 per cent, helping the Enyaq iV offer up to 339 miles electric range (WLTP combined). Tyres with Enliten technology are also lighter, requiring up to 2kg less raw materials per tyre.
Bridgestone developed the tyres for the Enyaq iV using its proprietary Virtual Tyre Development technology, which reduces the number of prototype tyres as well as the amount of physical testing required. Virtual Tyre Development can cut raw material consumption and CO2 emissions during the development phase by up to 60 per cent, while speeding up time to market by up to 50 per cent – overall making tyre development more sustainable, efficient, accurate and flexible.
Škoda Enyaq iV is the latest in a line of VW Group’s electric models to feature tyres with Enliten, following the Audi Q4 e-tron, Volkswagen ID.3/ID.4/ID.5, and Cupra Born.
EV tyres represent around 11 per cent of Bridgestone EMIA’s total original equipment line-up for passenger cars – rising from just four per cent in 2019. Bridgestone expects this figure to reach over 20 per cent in 2024.
