‘Born for the electric age’ – Prinx debuts latest products
When Prinx Chengshan presented its flagship Prinx tyre brand at The Tire Cologne in May, talk was of its introduction in European markets later in 2022. The tyre maker also displayed a pair of Prinx tyres scheduled for launch in China ahead of the brand’s arrival here. These tyres have now hit the market in the People’s Republic and signal the brand’s repositioning as a range “born for the electric age.” Prinx Chengshan will show them off the China International Tire & Wheel Fair in Qingdao this week.
These tyres are the Prinx XNEX Sport EV and XLAB Comfort EV. Prinx Chengshan developed both according to its GCE (Ground Contact Efficiency) research and development concept. GCE builds upon the wet grip, rolling resistance and noise examined by China’s tyre label and covers six major performance indicators – rolling performance, wet braking, wear, comfort, noise and handling. The goal with GCE is to achieve a balanced and optimal performance for each criterion.
Both tyres are available with two Prinx Chengshan technologies, the noise-reducing Silenteck and self-repairing Healteck. The first of these can reduce overall in-car noise by 1-2 dB, while the second technology can instantly repair punctures up to 6mm in diameter.
Despite Prinx’s positioning as China’s first domestic brand to focus on tyres for electric vehicles, drivers of combustion-powered vehicles aren’t excluded – Prinx Chengshan says the Prinx range also offers balanced and enhanced performance for ICE vehicles.
