BKT-made chain-ready OTR tyres get world debut in Australia

BKT Tyres, as well as Australian businesses Tradefaire International and Macmahon, have developed chain-ready underground mining tyres in what the three companies describe as a world first. The new OTR tyres will be launched in September 2022.

Available across Australia, the chain-ready tyre is designed to be “the solution to many issues faced within the construction, agricultural and mining industries”. Furthermore, it is said to minimise “downtime, operational costs and waste”.

Tradefaire International and Macmahon recognised issues with traditional OTR mining tyres that were not immediately ready for chain fitment. As a result of the redesign, businesses no longer need to pay full price for OTR tyres only to buff down the tread to fit machinery because the chain-ready tyres are designed with “adequate spacing for the chain, ensuring the tyres fit onto the equipment without requiring modifications”.

The smaller designed OTR mining tyres are said to be more cost-effective to manufacture and these savings are passed on to customers, reducing operational costs. Expenses are also reduced by removing the need for buffing.
