Aeolus relocates former Double Happiness tyre factory
Progress has been made in the relocation of Aeolus’s Qingxu County, Taiyuan City, China tyre factory. Specifically, the Qingxu county government has already determined the factory’s new address. A few days ago, the relevant departments invited a design team to inspect the factory’s new location and discuss the relocation project’s design plan. At present, the design unit is preparing a feasibility proposal.
Meanwhile, the Qingxu county government contacted several construction companies to discuss construction plans. Local authorities reportedly hope that the Aeolus Taiyuan factory’s relocation will make substantial progress this year.
According to relevant data, the Aeolus Taiyuan factory was originally Double Happiness Tyre. In 2016, the tyre company was 100 per cent acquired by Aeolus and renamed Aeolus (Taiyuan). At present, the Aeolus Taiyuan factory has more than 1,200 employees and has an annual production capacity of 1.8 million all-steel radial tyres. In 2021, the factory’s annual output value reached 670 million yuan, with a tax payment of 32.0638 million yuan.
It has been known for some time that Aeolus Taiyuan is being relocated. From the perspective of environmental protection and industrial structure optimisation, the local government hopes that the Aeolus Taiyuan factory can move into a nearby chemical park. The Qingxu county government has listed the Aeolus Taiyuan factory’s relocation as one of the critical works this year. According to the plan, the relocation work will divide the Aeolus existing factory into several units and relocate them.
Tyrepress research reveals that is not the first time that the Taiyuan factory had been relocated. As early as 2007, the factory was relocated from the urban area of Taiyuan City to Qingxu County. At that time, the reason given by the relevant Taiyuan authorities for the relocation was that the Taiyuan factory had four boilers and consumed nearly 50,000 tons of coal a year.
