Synthos’ Marchisio joins TRS board
At its annual general meeting on 29 June, Swiss firm Tyre Recycling Solutions (TRS) appointed Matteo Marchisio to its Board of Directors. Marchisio is director of the Synthetic Rubber business unit at Synthos, the chemical company that took a minority stake in TRS following its acquisition of Trinseo’s synthetic rubber business late last year.
Marchisio, who has served as the unit’s director since 2017, brings a quarter of a century of rubber industry experience to this role. Synthos states that his “extensive experience at one of the world’s leading synthetic rubber manufacturers,” a firm with a “broad portfolio and strong technology roadmap focused on sustainable solutions,” will benefit TRS in its quest to grow the recycled rubber powder market.
“With many leading tyre manufacturers anticipating upcoming legislative changes in the EU regarding a possible minimum recycled content in tyres, it has become clear that the acceptance of high-quality rubber powder from end-of-life tyres as a viable alternative to virgin material in high performance rubber applications is rapidly increasing,” says Marchisio. “I personally believe that innovative companies like Synthos and TRS will lead the market shift toward high-performance material solutions with a smaller environmental footprint, and I am therefore committed to contributing to their long-term success.”
About TRS
TRS, a Swiss scale-up company founded in 2013, is working to solve an enormous waste problem. With half of the world’s scrap tyres stockpiled annually, valorisation through recycling is less than 20 per cent. TRS possesses proprietary, eco-viable and economically lucrative solutions that help the industry solve this problem by adding value to existing players in the recycling chain and offering cost-effective new materials and unique compounding solutions for use in tyres, industrial, construction and footwear applications.
