Pyrum to set up JV pyrolysis plant
German pyrolysis end-of-life tyre recycling specialist Pyrum Innovations AG has established a joint venture to build and operate a pyrolysis plant in Straubing, Bavaria. Together with a trio of partners, it will establish Revalit GmbH, a recycling plant with a capacity to process 20,000 tonnes of tyres per annum. Pyrum holds a 25 per cent share in the joint venture, as do Munich-based firms MCapital GmbH, Textor GmbH and Auer Holding GmbH. The plan is to have the facility operational by 2024.
The protagonists signed a contract for the start of the development activities yesterday along with a document covering the commencement of work for the required approval documents. Preliminary discussions with authorities have already taken place and initial financing discussions with banks are currently underway. The signing of a reservation agreement with the landowner will take place immediately after the company’s entry into the commercial register.
Straubing is located on the banks of the Danube, and Pyrum considers the facility’s planned location to be not only “characterised by excellent connections to the road network” but that it also “offers the possibility of transporting the goods to and from the site by rail and ship.” Straubing, it adds, thus represents an “ideal location for the implementation of the environmentally-oriented business approach.”
Important rollout milestone
“We are very pleased about the realisation of our first joint venture and the future cooperation with our new partners,” states Pascal Klein, chief executive officer of Pyrum Innovations AG. “With our planned pyrolysis plant in Bavaria, we will reach an important milestone on the way to the commercial rollout of our pyrolysis technology.”
Jens Weinberger, managing director of MCapital GmbH, adds: “We are proud to have found an innovative partner in pyrolysis technology in Pyrum Innovations AG, with whom we are jointly building our first plant in Bavaria.”
