Point S refreshes winter line-up
With the launch of its latest cold weather passenger car tyre for Central and Western Europe, Point S continues the ‘what it says on the tin’ naming format we saw at the launch of its summer range last year. Simply called Winter, the new line replaces the Winterstar 4.
As was the case with the Summer, Point S says it developed the new range “in partnership with a leading manufacturer of premium tyres.” It doesn’t name this development partner, but a perusal of DOT codes on the summer range revealed the tyre maker to be none other than Continental. We assume this continues to be the case for the Point S Winter.
Point S says the new product “boasts several technical improvements” over its predecessor, especially in relation to safety and rolling resistance. The result is a “high-quality product,” bearing the 3PMSF symbol, that is “ideally suited to cold, snowy and mountainous conditions.”
To ensure maximum market coverage, the Point S Winter is available in a wider range of sizes than the Winterstar 4. This SKU growth addresses the increasing number of SUVs and larger-wheeled passenger vehicles entering European markets. With rim diameter options available from 14- up to 18-inch, Point S says the Winter covers 76 per cent of the car and SUV standard market segment in Central and Western Europe.
Balancing quality, safety & affordability
Commenting on the launch of the Point S Winter, Emilie Faure, Point S International private label product manager, said: “Point S is excited to introduce another upgraded product into our portfolio. We have developed a strong reputation for bringing products to market that balance quality and safety with affordability. With the Point S Winter tyre, we have certainly reinforced this position, and I’m confident our network of dealers across Europe will fully embrace this new range.”
As with all Point S branded products, the Winter is available exclusively via the network. Point S Winter production began in May 2022 and the first deliveries are already on their way to dealers in 19 European countries. Unlike the Summer and 4 Seasons 2, Point S is not selling the Winter in the UK at this point in time.
