Goodyear appoints new President of China
On 1 July 2022, Goodyear announced that Justin Foley succeeded Jonathan Zhang as president of China, reporting to Nathaniel Madarang, president of Goodyear Asia Pacific.
Nathaniel Madarang said: “Goodyear is studying how to maintain a ‘customer first’ philosophy in the Asia Pacific region while simplifying the operating way and optimising business processes. Justin Foley will play an irreplaceable role at this stage. He has extensive production and management experience and participated in the whole process of Cooper’s acquisition, helping to promote the brand’s sustainable growth and further enhance the brand value of Goodyear.”
Justin Foley joined Goodyear in 2005 as Director of Operations for the ASEAN region, strategically leading the operations teams in Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines and Indonesia. In 2007, he was promoted to Project Director of Goodyear China and oversaw the construction of Goodyear’s Pulandian tyre manufacturing plant. After that, Justin Foley was in charge of Goodyear’s OE business in the Asia Pacific, and in 2020 became the tyre manufacturer’s Asia Pacific Commercial Vice President.
Goodyear did not disclose the whereabouts of Jonathan Zhang. Tyrepress found that Jonathan Zhang had been president of Goodyear China for just over a year. In March 2021, shortly after Goodyear announced the acquisition of Cooper, Ryan Patterson, the former president of Goodyear Asia Pacific, became the Senior Vice President of business integration, leading the integration of the two brands of Goodyear and Cooper. Nathaniel Madarang, the former President of Goodyear China, has become the President of Asia Pacific. At that time, Jonathan Zhang, who was in charge of the passenger car tyre business in China, succeeded Nathaniel Madarang as the President of China.
