Pirelli Elect now available in the aftermarket
For the past two years, Pirelli has supplied vehicle manufacturers with original equipment tyres tailored for electric and plug-in hybrid cars. The tyre maker is now offering Pirelli Elect products as replacement fitments and states that these are “now widely available” for aftermarket customers. Pirelli has integrated Elect into all P Zero, Cinturato and Scorpion lines, thereby offering the technology for summer, winter and all-season ranges.
This market coverage is pronounced in the upper end of the market, an area where Pirelli feels at home thanks to its numerous partnerships with vehicle manufacturers. For example, Pirelli says its Elect winter range covers more than 65 per cent of the premium and prestige market, and when looking at prestige alone the figure exceeds 80 per cent.
More OEM homologations as well
Busy as Pirelli has been preparing Elect for its aftermarket debut, it has also found time to continue developing products for original equipment partners. More than 250 Elect SKUs were homologated last year, more than double the amount registered in 2020. “This number underlines Pirelli as the tyre manufacturer with the biggest share of homologations for electric and plug-in hybrid cars,” says Pirelli.
Pirelli Elect addresses the common challenges of electric vehicles – battery range, increased torque and additional weight. Thanks to the technologies utilised, Pirelli states that Elect tyres “allow drivers to benefit from the complete potential of BEV and PHEV vehicles throughout all possible usage conditions.”
