Magna Tyres: growth despite Covid
Netherlands based, family-owned OTR tyre manufacturer Magna Tyres returned to the Tire Cologne show last month with a determined agenda to meet once more with their growing worldwide customer base.
Stephan van Leeuwen, Magna’s sales director (Original Equipment), with additional responsibility for the Italian, UK and Eire markets commented: “We have always considered international tyre shows as a strong priority to meet new companies and obtain new sales leads so being at a ‘live’ show’ once more is a very positive move forward again.”
With an experienced team of 10 sales specialists on the booth, van Leeuwen main objective was to present Magna’s extensive product range and share details of the company’s recent growth despite Covid:
“We invested in a new 58,000 square metre warehouse facility in 2020 which has enabled Magna to become even stronger as a leading international tyre producer and supplier. At the same time, we have been active in the acquisition market buying several companies with businesses that have significantly helped Magna further increase its market position in products and services. The company particularly specialise in OTR and Industrial tyres but also offer a popular range of special radial truck tyres for the global mining industry and Port Handling tyres for the Port and Shipping industry”, van Leeuwen added. Magna also produce a series of solid tyres for the waste and recycling markets along with mobile high speed crane tyres.
Speaking to our sister publication Pneusnews.it, van Leuwen continued: “It’s great to be back at the fair. The stand differentiated us from the other exhibitors, both for the design and for the large OTR tyres on display. We’ve been super busy, at the show as well as over the past few months. There is a great demand for OTR tyres at the moment, and at the same time a great shortage, in all segments. This adds up to other problems in the sector: the cost of containers, those of energy, the scarcity and costs of raw materials, it is a particular moment, but we are doing great…”
Magna Tyres used Tire Cologne as an opportunity to present some new sizes of existing products, in addition to the key focus of promoting the company. “We are a premium quality brand, organized, with a very varied range, but we are very young, Magna is only 15 years of age. We still have to make ourselves known, demonstrating the quality of our products and services. We are growing very fast, we are financially solid, reliable, we work with a personal approach, customers have a person in front of them, not a telephone number, and the products are of high quality. We just have to get potential customers to test us, then we’re sure no one will be unhappy.”
One subject that came up in conversation with many exhibitors was the question whether Tire Cologne should have been held concurrently with Autopromotec in Bologna, Italy.
“I think it is incredible that the two main events in the sector, after 4 years, took place in the same week. It is a shame, and a lost opportunity for the industry. We had to make a choice”, van Leuwen explained.
With offices and warehouses already established in a number of countries including North America, Australia, Middle East, South Africa, India and Europe. Magna viewed exhibiting at the show as an important ‘stepping stone’ towards becoming a truly global enterprise.
