Exol Lubricants, Chemodex join Taylors Transport for British Truck Racing Championship
Exol Lubricants and one of its distributors Chemodex are sponsoring Taylors Transport Racing in the new season of the British Truck Racing Championship (BTRC).
Taylors Transport Racing is headed up by veteran driver and fleet engineer Mark Taylor, who is taking the wheel of a 1,000 horsepower, five-ton MAN truck in the top flight of the national championship.
Exol Lubricants’ high-end transmission oil and lubricants feature on board Taylor’s racing truck, keeping the vehicle’s key components working at high performance.
Richard Wilson, chief mechanic and fleet engineer at Taylors Transport, said: “Exol’s product is on-board keeping the transmission, drivetrain, bearing hubs and hydraulics moving.”
A former race winner, Taylor is lining up on the grid for his fourth assault on the BTRC after purchasing a race-ready truck ahead of the 2019 season, where he finished a commendable fourth overall in the championship standings in his debut year.
Said Taylor; “It’s great to have Exol Lubricants and Chemodex alongside us as we inch further up the field with every race weekend. There’s been a lot of development work on the truck over the off-season, with a new rear axle and reconfigured suspension giving us improved handling and better weight management,” Taylor said.
Steve Dunn, sales and marketing director at Exol Lubricants, said: “The BTRC is a great platform for us to showcase Exol’s credentials as a competitive lubricants partner in the motorsport arena. It’s great to partner with Taylors Transport this season and we look forward to sharing some exciting race weekends with them.”
The 2022 season of the BTRC takes place at some of the UK’s premier motor racing venues, with five, 15-minute races at each. The calendar kicked off with a meeting at Brands Hatch in April, before a trip to the Pembrey circuit in South Wales in early May. Rounds then follow at Hampshire circuit Thruxton on 9-10 July, Donington Park on 20-21 August, and Snetterton on 17-18 September, before returning to Pembrey on 8-9 October for the penultimate event, and the championship finale, back at Brands Hatch on 5-6 November.
