Two batches of Shandong-produced tyres fail sampling inspection
On 24 April 2022, the State Administration for Market Regulation of China announced the sampling inspection results of transportation products in 2021. Among the 24 batches of tyre products randomly checked by government departments, there were two batches of what are referred to as “unqualified products”, with a resulting failure rate of 8.3 per cent. In 2019 and 2020, the failure rate of the tyre product sampling inspection was 2 per cent and 0 per cent respectively.
The two batches of unqualified tyre products were produced by tyre manufacturers in Shandong Province, specifically Shandong Hongsheng Rubber Co., Ltd. and Shouguang Firemax Tyre Co., Ltd. Tyrepress found that both Hongsheng Rubber and Firemax Tyre submitted re-inspection applications after the tyre products failed the initial inspection. However, the re-inspection results of the two companies’ products show that they are still unqualified.
Among them, the unqualified tyre specification of Hongsheng Rubber is 195/60R15 88V, a high-performance product. The production date/batch number of the substandard products announced by the State Administration for Market Regulation is 2721, 3320, 4520. It is further reported that the reason for the failure of Hongsheng Rubber tyre products may be improper product structure design or improper use of critical raw materials.
The unqualified Firemax tyre is 205/55R16 94V, and the unqualified item is the strength performance. The reason for the unqualified sampling inspection is that the safety factor of the skeleton material is insufficient. The production date/ batch number of this product is 1821, 2021.
According to the data, the China State Administration for Market Regulation has conducted sample inspections on 24 batches of tire products produced by 24 companies in 2021. There are seven inspection items involving durability, low air pressure, high-speed, and strength performance. The products of tire enterprises in Shandong Province have become the focus of this sampling inspection, involving 14 batches, accounting for 58.3% of all products in the sampling inspection.
