Uniroyal launches RainExpert 5
A hallmark of the Uniroyal brand has long been an emphasis on driving in the wet, and this continues with the new Uniroyal RainExpert 5. Uniroyal says the summer tyre offers “best-in-class wet performance” as well as a comfortable driving experience and increased mileage performance.
To achieve this, new technologies have been developed that quickly drain water from the contact area. Further developments to the tyre’s ‘Shark Skin’ technology and aqua twist sipes help accelerate water dispersal from the tread, and Uniroyal says they do so throughout the entire life of the tyre. Wide circumferential grooves in the asymmetrical tread, alongside deep shoulder grooves, also promote rapid water removal, increasing the grip on wet roads and reducing the risk of aquaplaning.
An extended tyre life is achievable with a new tread compound and a consistent division of the tread by sipes between the blocks also reduces wear. The new tread design and balanced rubber distribution in the inner and outer areas of the tread of the new RainExpert 5 ensure uniform distribution of the ground pressure, helping to increase the service life.
The sequence of the profile blocks is redesigned to ensure driving comfort. External grooves aligned steeply in the driving direction, lead to reduced noise excitation, and closed lateral shoulder grooves on both tyre flanks reduce road/tyre noise ensuring a more comfortable and relaxed driving experience.
The new RainExpert 5 is available now in a wide range of sizes for 14- to 18-inch rim diameters and widths between 155 and 265 millimetres, as well as cross sections between 80 and 60 per cent, speed rated up to 168 mph.
