FTSE4Good Index Series: Bridgestone working towards E8 Commitment
For the fourth consecutive year, Bridgestone Corporation has been selected for inclusion in the FTSE4Good Index Series. Announcing its continued presence within the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) investment index, the company says it will “continue various initiatives” across the value chain whilst striving to achieve what it set out in the Bridgestone E8 Commitment.
The FTSE4Good Index Series is a stock index compiled by FTSE Russell. This index is comprised of companies that implement superior ESG risk countermeasures and aims to promote investment that emphasises corporate ESG initiatives. The decision to include Bridgestone in the current selection reflects the Japanese company’s efforts to achieve material circularity, as per its Milestone 2030 sustainability commitment.
In this year’s evaluation, FTSE Russell positively appraised Bridgestone’s ramped-up efforts towards realising a sustainable supply chain, efforts shaped by its revised Global Sustainable Procurement Policy, which now incorporates the requirements of the Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber (GPSNR). Moreover, Bridgestone maintained high scores in the environmental, social, and governance categories, accented by perfect scores in the ‘pollution and resources’ and ‘supply chain’ subcategories. This is the second year in a row that Bridgestone has achieved perfect scores in these subcategories.
