Yokohama tyres OE on BMW, Mercedes
Two German manufacturers have selected the Yokohama Advan Sport V107 as an original equipment tyre for new and existing performance models.
Mercedes-AMG announced its first electric vehicle last September, and Yokohama Rubber reports it has begun supplying the Advan Sport V107 for the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ in size 275/35R22 104Y. The tyre features Mercedes-AMG’s ‘MO1’ mark of approval on the sidewall, indicating that it is an approved OE fitment.
Yokohama Rubber co-developed this OE tyre together with Mercedes-AMG to meet the German car maker’s technological standards. To achieve the low rolling resistance levels required for electric vehicles, the tyres use a newly developed compound that reduces heat generation during normal driving more effectively than the tyres previously supplied to Mercedes-AMG. In addition, the V107’s profile structure, crucial for uniform road contact pressure, and a newly developed pattern arrangement, reduce acceleration passing noise in line with UN-ECE R51-03 requirements.
BMW X5M & X6M upgrade to V107
The Advan Sport V107 is also original equipment on the BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M. BMW previously equipped these models with the Advan Sport V105 but they will now wear Yokohama Rubber’s latest flagship performance model. The BMW X5M and X6M both come shod with the V107 in size 275/40R21 107Y at the front and 315/35R21 111Y on the rear wheels.
Again, Yokohama Rubber co-developed these original equipment tyres with the vehicle manufacturer. In addition to maintaining the “optimal balance of high driving performance combined with superior comfort and safety characteristics” achieved with the prior V105, the Advan Sport V107 tyres have also gained the EU labelling system’s highest ‘A’ grade for wet grip. The BMW Group’s ‘star’ mark features on the sidewall, denoting the tyre’s OE status.
