VACO names new chairman
The VACO executive committee has nominated Ron van der Jagt to be the Dutch tyre and wheel industry association’s next chairman. Following approval by VACO members, van der Jagt will be appointed at a general meeting on 10 February and begin in the role on 1 April, taking over from Sybrand van Hulst, who has resigned after 12 years.
“Sometimes everything falls into place. And everything you are good at comes together in one position. That is why I am particularly pleased that VACO has nominated me to its members as the new chairman,” says Van der Jagt. “In this role, my qualities in strategy, management and communication will come in handy. And at VACO I can make excellent use of all the experience I have with interest, professional and trade associations.”
Van der Jagt is active as a director and supervisor for organisations at the intersection of public and private. He previously spent many years working for management consultancies such as Boer & Croon. More recently, he has been using his knowledge and experience for public affairs and for organisations with a social mission.
The VACO Board is convinced that van der Jagt will lead it and the association in an enthusiastic and inspiring way. “Welcome to VACO RSyon!” exclaimed Carlo Hijzen, president of the Tyre Retreading Sector and VACO vice-president. “I look forward to working with you. And if I may quote the American thinker Ralph Waldo Emerson: Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.”
Van der Jagt will seek to connect with VACO members and with the association’s various partners. “Connecting with our members is essential and sometimes complicated, especially in the lean times of corona,” comments Laura Seegers, VACO general secretary. “Ron will certainly contribute to strengthening the bond that VACO has with its members and also to expanding the connection we have with our partners. Together we will make that a spearhead.”
