Goodyear Total Mobility integrates Here location services

Services provided by location data platform Here Technologies are being integrated into the Goodyear Total Mobility one-stop fleet management solution. Goodyear says that by combining its solution with Here’s services, fleets can benefit from a fully customisable suite of vehicle-to-fleet operation management tools that will minimise vehicle downtime.

The one-stop fleet management solution combines data from Goodyear’s Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) with Here location services. Goodyear TPMS utilises a sensor and predictive algorithm solution that helps fleets avoid up to 90 per cent of tyre-related breakdowns. With the addition of Here location services, fleet operators and Goodyear service providers can localise a vehicle requiring service or roadside assistance to within a few metres and navigate it to the nearest garage or maintenance centre. In addition, Goodyear has used Here SDK (Software Development Kit) to provide a mobile application for commercial drivers.

Here SDK & Routing

Here SDK is a set of programming interfaces that provides access to Here’s portfolio of services, such as in-vehicle navigation, traffic alerts, transit information and fleet management features. Here SDK provides vector maps in over 190 countries and in 60 languages with optimised map data size to minimise download latency and to provide fast response times while still scaling to a high degree of fidelity.

Map customisation tools enable various adjustments such as the highlighting of important objects on a map by changing colours and icons as well as editing dynamic properties of cartography objects including buildings, roads and land use. The Here SDK mapping, routing and search functions incorporate truck specific road information, vehicle regulations and points of interest. Here Routing also enables fleet managers to deliver optimised navigation routes incorporating the attributes of the roadway, legal and physical restrictions and adjusted road hierarchy and topology.
