Continental appoints Samir Gupta MD for India
In addition to his existing remit as regional head of the Central Asia PLT replacement business within Continental’s Tires division, Samir Gupta has taken on the role of managing director of Continental Tyres India. He began in this capacity this month after relinquishing leadership of Continental Tyres Malaysia, which he’d headed since December 2019.
Gupta joined Continental in September 2012 as head of sales for India and became Continental India’s market manager for truck and bus tyres in February 2016. He has been regional head of the Central Asia PLT RE business since March 2019.
“Samir will play a very critical role in driving Continental Tires’ growth in the Indian market, comments Dalibor Kalina, head of Continental’s APAC Replacement Tires business area for the APAC region. “His extensive leadership experience spanning across various markets will help build and maintain agile and robust teams to improve the operational efficiency for current and future continental’s success in the Indian markets.”
“Continental Tires is synonymous with quality, innovation and agility worldwide,” adds Gupta. “Being one of the largest automotive industries, India is an important market for Continental Tires. We are committed to develop and manufacture quality and innovative products that befit the Indian market requirements. I am excited for my second stint with Continental Tires India and lead the team in its growth and expansion.”
