Peter Foulkes dies after short illness
Peter Foulkes, who was well-known in the tyre business for his influential roles at both Goodyear and Giti, died earlier this month after a short illness.
Foulkes began his career in the logistics sector and then spent more than two decades in the tyre business during which time he played a key part in raising the profile of Giti from a relatively new player to market competitor in the UK and Europe. Personally, that success saw Foulkes rise to the position of marketing director Europe – TBR. With both his achievement and his origins in mind, it was only natural for Peter Foulkes to return to his roots – something he did both geographically and business-wise by establishing a transport business in the Cheshire area in recent years.
Trelleborg Wheel Systems managing director Richard Lyons, who worked closely with Foulkes during his time in the tyre industry echoed the sentiments of many friends and colleagues when he said: “I am extremely saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Peter and my condolences are with all his family, friends and colleagues. I’ve worked with Peter in many guises for over 20 years and admired his tenacity and professionalism, he became a personal friend of mine and that of my family. He will be sadly missed.”
