Falken opens new strategic warehouse in Germany
On 10 November, Falken Tyres Europe formally opened a new 40,000 square metre logistics centre and warehouse at Gengenbach, Germany. The new facility can house 450,000 tyres and is strategically located close to the German/French border, making it ideal to service customers in both countries, as well as those in Switzerland. It will be run by logistics partner FIEGE and Falken will be its largest customer. 6,000 tyres arrive at the complex each day and are distributed to OE and aftermarket customers.
Speaking at the official opening, Markus Bögner, chief operating officer and president of Falken Tyre Europe GmbH, described the event as “marking an important milestone for our European expansion.” He went on; “I am convinced that this logistics centre will bring direct benefits to OEM and trade customers not only in Germany, France and Switzerland but throughout Europe and will form the basis for further growth.”
Gengenbach Mayor Thorsten Erny welcomed the opening of the project, saying; “As one of the leading contract logistics companies in Europe, FIEGE enriches our region as a business location.” He added; “Despite the coronavirus pandemic, FIEGE delivered the new building project on schedule and has created new jobs here in Gengenbach.”
