Continental appoints EMEA, APAC regional replacement tyres heads
Former APAC head to succeed Philipp von Hirschheydt in EMEA, ex-Matador MD to lead Asia-Pacific business
Continental has announced new heads for its passenger car and truck tyre replacement business in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) and APAC (Asia-Pacific) regions. Ferdinand Hoyos (45) will manage Continental’s EMEA replacement tyre business, while Dalibor Kalina (47) will take over Hoyos’s former role as APAC head. The appointees will take up their new positions on 1 January, 2022.
Hoyos has been heading Continental’s replacement tyre business in the APAC region since 2018. He succeeds Philipp v. Hirschheydt (47), who is moving to Continental’s Automotive group sector.
Hoyos started his career as a consultant in strategy and corporate finance before joining Continental in 2006. Among other positions, he was head of Continental’s M&A and corporate real estate management team. He led the replacement tyre business in the Andina region (Ecuador, Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, and Chile). Since 2018, Hoyos has been heading the APAC replacement tyre business.
Kalina has been head of Continental’s passenger car replacement tyre business in China since 2015. He started his career at the Slovakian tyre manufacturer Matador, part of Continental since 2007. He held various positions in the sales division there before becoming managing director of Matador in 2007, where he was responsible for the company’s integration into Continental’s tyres business. This was followed by management positions at Continental Barum (Czech Republic) and Continental Tires China. His most recent position was market head for the passenger car replacement tyre business in China.
Hoyos and Kalina will report to Christian Kötz, a member of the executive board of Continental AG responsible for the Tires business area.
von Hirschheydt to lead user experience in automotive group
Philipp v. Hirschheydt will lead the new user experience business area of Continental’s automotive group sector from 1 January, 2022.
Having held various positions in corporate finance and M&A in the banking sector, v. Hirschheydt joined Continental in 2007, where he gained experience in both the Automotive and Tires divisions and at the corporate level of Continental. He has been responsible for the replacement tyre business for the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East, Africa) since 2018.
“In their previous positions, Philipp v. Hirschheydt, Ferdinand Hoyos and Dalibor Kalina contributed greatly to our profitable growth. They drove forward the implementation of our ‘Vision 2030’ strategy program, which aims to consistently align the Tires business area and all its activities in a customer-focused manner. On behalf of the entire Tire Board, I would like to thank them for their commitment and wish them every success in their respective new roles in the Tires and Automotive group sector,” said Christian Kötz.
