Bridgestone supplies original tyres for Audi Q4 e-tron electric SUV
Bridgestone is supplying bespoke versions of its WhatTyre Award-winning summer and winter tyres to Audi for fitment on the Q4 e-tron. The tyre manufacturer will supply newly developed iterations of its Turanza Eco and Blizzak LM005 tyres, WhatTyre’s 2021 Electric Car Tyre of the Year and Winter Tyre of the Year respectively. The Turanza Eco has been developed with Bridgestone’s sustainability promoting Enliten Technology. The Q4 e-tron is Audi’s first compact, fully-electric SUV.
Bridgestone developed custom-engineered ultra-low rolling resistance summer tyres with Enliten Technology to meet Audi’s demanding technical requirements. Enliten reduces weight, materials and rolling resistance, helping to promote more sustainable motoring. The manufacturer’s comparative tests on a conventional model and an Enliten enabled model of the same tyre in size 92Y 225/40R18 XL show Enliten Technology reduces tyre rolling resistance by up to 30 per cent and weight by up to 20 per cent. It says that Enliten Technology therefore helps to extend electric vehicle driving range and reduces environmental impact thanks to improved resource productivity.
The bespoke Turanza Eco summer tyres offer a rolling resistance performance that betters the European A label grade threshold. Bridgestone says this has been achieved with no compromises in on-road stability, crucial for the heavy load on a rear traction vehicle.
Bridgestone said it is “proud to be collaborating with Audi in helping to accelerate the electric future.” It added that it “sees electric mobility as a huge opportunity to reduce CO2 emissions and make mobility more environmentally sustainable.”
The Audi Q4 e-tron with bespoke Bridgestone Turanza Eco summer and Blizzak LM005 winter tyres is available now on the European market.
