150th anniversary: Pirelli delegation meets Italy’s President
The President of Italy has received a delegation from Pirelli, headed by executive vice-president and chief executive officer Marco Tronchetti Provera, to mark the company’s upcoming 150th anniversary. Tronchetti Provera described the meeting with President Mattarella as a “great honour” for him and the Pirelli contingent.
In a statement, the Pirelli boss said the company has brought “Italian excellence to the world” since 1872 thanks to its workforce’s “passion and desire to innovate.” He called this “a testament” to the values of entrepreneurship that have characterised the company since its birth on 28 January 1872.
“The attention to product quality and production processes, to cutting-edge research, to the market’s international culture as well as to the wellbeing of people in the workplace worldwide, demonstrated by the founder Giovanni Battista Pirelli and subsequently by his sons Alberto and Piero and grandson Leopoldo still characterise Pirelli today,” continued Tronchetti Provera. “A company I am proud to lead and which focuses on the future every day, laying the foundations for the celebration of still many years of growth.”
