Tyres-N-Parts begins rollout with launch in Germany
Tyres-N-Parts. This familiar-sounding name belongs to a new B2B digital sales platform aimed at car dealerships and workshops as well as tyre dealers. The Michelin-backed venture is initially launching in Germany and aims to act as an online one-stop-shop for tyres and automotive spare parts. Tyres-N-Parts believes it will become “a model that will define the future of tyre and parts retailing.”
Heading the newly-founded company is Johannes Witting, who was appointed managing director of Tyres-N-Parts in October. Witting joined Michelin in 2018 and most recently served as digital transformer for Michelin Europe North. The start-up notes that his two-year tenure as digital transformer means he’s “very familiar with the digital challenges of sustainable retail structures.”
Digital matchmaker
Introducing Tyres-N-Parts, Witting emphasises the start-up’s role as a platform operator rather than provider of the products sold via the platform. “This means that car service companies have access to a comprehensive trading platform and can easily map their entire tyre and spare parts procurement and reliably cover even short-term requirements.”
The platform offers all established brands and parts that wholesalers and suppliers offer the automotive aftermarket. Tyres-N-Parts doesn’t sell these itself, instead providing a digital marketplace through which workshops and dealers can purchase products directly from wholesalers and suppliers at their conditions. Although it isn’t the seller, Tyres-N-Parts ensures standardised invoicing so that payment formats and processes are uniform when dealing with different suppliers through the B2B platform.
Developing a mature e-commerce platform
In particular, Tyres-N-Parts anticipates being a “reliable digital business partner” to companies not large enough not to need their own sales force, providing a means of quickly procuring even small quantities of products. “Anyone who wants to be successful in an increasingly digitalised world must consistently use the opportunities of digital transformation and invest in sustainable customer orientation,” says Witting. “TyresN-Parts is doing this and, together with its business partners, wants to develop a mature e-commerce platform that is clearly tailored to the needs of the automotive aftermarket.
“It is important to us that our solution functions across brands, facilitates procurement processes and delivers marketplace participants real digital added value – regardless of whether they’re car dealerships or independent garages,” Witting continues, reiterating the aim of offering a complete platform ecosystem and thus a true one-stop shopping experience for every market participant. “Tyres-N-Parts is set to become a model that will define the future of tyre and parts retailing.”
Tyres-N-Parts launches in Germany this month and encourages professionals in that market to register at the www.tyresnparts.com site.
