IAA Transportation: New name & focus for major commercial vehicle show
The organiser of the German exhibition known as IAA Cars for many a year caught the zeitgeist in 2021 and repackaged the event as IAA Mobility, broadening its remit to include cyclists and other mobility stakeholders. Similarly, it is expanding the concept behind the IAA Commercial Vehicles show and giving it a new identity – IAA Transportation. When returning to its familiar home in Hannover from 20 to 25 September 2022 after a prolonged absence, it will for the first time “give actors from the fields of commercial vehicles, buses and logistics the opportunity to network with leading tech providers and suppliers.”
The theme of next year’s IAA Transportation is ‘People and Goods on the Move’. Organiser, German automotive industry association VDA, says a major goal of the new concept is to be the first international platform in the transport sector to focus more on climate-neutral and technological transformation in the entire transportation industry.
“We need a technological paradigm shift in all spectra in order to achieve climate-neutral, flourishing mobility. Manufacturers from the logistics and transportation sectors are facing considerable challenges. But with the new IAA Transportation, we hope to actively consolidate these synergies and interlink them in a productive manner,” says Hildegard Müller, VDA president. “This is why we are expanding our concept, and linking leading innovators and concepts from the fields of transportation, logistics and intermodality. These include commercial vehicles, buses, trailers and structures, and connecting to the logistics in rail, ship, air traffic, and delivery robots for the last mile.”
4 event elements
IAA Transportation’s expanded concept consists of four event elements: IAA Exhibition, which provides a platform for presenting innovations; IAA Conference, which VDA describes as the “most important think tank for discussing the future of the transportation and logistics industries”; IAA Experience, an interactive concept for show visitors; and IAA Digital, a virtual presence to maximise reach and tap new target groups worldwide. VDA says it will reveal further details on these individual formats in succession.
