Vandal: Debut for Tony Gonzalez film
The world of tyres and that of the silver screen seldom cross paths. They notably did so in 2010 when French director Quentin Dupieux brought us Rubber, the tale of an anthropomorphised but troubled tyre named Robert. They cross paths again in 2021, this time via a film jointly written and produced by a major name in the tyre wholesaling sector.
Tony Gonzalez, founder, chief executive officer and chairman of Florida, USA-based wholesaler Tire Group International (TGI), is the co-writer and co-producer of Vandal, a thriller that stars Daniel Zovatto (Don’t Breathe), Otmara Marrero (Connecting…, StartUp), Beau Knapp (Southpaw), Juan Pablo Raba (Narcos), Richard Schiff (The Good Doctor), and Frankie J. Alvarez (Looking) and tells the story of the young leader of an infamous graffiti crew in Miami and his experiences of love, loss, and the consequences of his actions as he comes of age.
Global rights to Vandal have been secured by 1091 Pictures and the film is available to purchase or rent from today on numerous major streaming platforms. Tony Gonzalez negotiated the movie distribution and rights deal on behalf of the filmmakers and Greg Maurice of 1091 Pictures.
A story that can inspire & inform
As a personal celebration of 30 years of success in the tyre business, Gonzalez has acted on his lifelong passion for film and music, creating the music label Rock the Moon and film production company Exilium. “Having the opportunity to co-write and produce this film alongside a talented group of actors and a dedicated crew was as exciting as anything I have ever done in my professional career,” states Tony Gonzalez. “It has always been a dream to be able to deliver a story that can inspire and inform a global audience, a story that has many lessons for the young and old alike.”
