Continental acquiring Trelleborg business
Germany’s Continental AG has signed an agreement to purchase a Trelleborg business – but this particular transaction has nothing to do with Trelleborg Wheel Systems or even tyres. The deal will see Trelleborg’s printing solutions business changing hands for an undisclosed sum. Continental says the acquisition will complement its surface solutions and printing technology portfolio, enhancing the company’s presence with industrial customers.
“Printing technology customers will also benefit from a broader global footprint,” comments Thomas Christensen, who is responsible for Continental’s global printing solutions business.
Trelleborg’s printing solutions business employs approximately 640 people worldwide and delivers high-end solutions to printing technology industry customers. Its product offering includes printing blankets for offset and digital printing as well as carrier sleeves for flexo printing. Continental has almost 300 employees developing and manufacturing comprehensive solutions in the field of printing technology with its brands Conti-Air, Phoenix Xtra Blankets for sheet-fed and web printing and Conti Laserline for flexo printing plates for direct engraving.
Completion of the acquisition is subject to the approval of the relevant anti-trust authorities.
