Stone Tyres granted planning permission for MOT centre
After months of applications and dozens of letters of support from local residents, Stone Tyres planning permission application for an MOT centre alongside its tyre premises has been granted.
In a report on the matter, case officer Natasha Ayres recommended the plans for approval, noting: “The building will have a significant impact on the street scene and the character of the area, mainly due to the location of the building. However, the applicant has made some changes and worked with the council to provide a development that would be acceptable and the amendments do reduce the harm slightly.”
However, six jobs will be created “in a sustainable location” that will “contribute to the area and improve the facilities for the local residents”, the report concluded.
Previous reports have suggested that construction and outfitting will take 16 weeks. And therefore, the new MOT centre is likely to be opening in the middle of the first quarter of 2022.
