NDI expanding rim plant to meet growing global demand
In response to increased global demand from the farming sector for customised rim solutions, NDI Group is increasing capacity at its rim factory in Brørup, Denmark. It is doing so through an expansion of its production facility, and describes the work carried out as a “first step”. NDI anticipates completing the expansion in early 2022.
NDI Group reports that the Brørup plant set a record during the 2020/21 financial year for the number of specialised rim solutions it made for agricultural and industrial machinery. The factory has produced specialised rim solutions for more than 40 years and NDI says the increased demand has meant busy times for the plant’s workforce and for the company’s agricultural department. NDI Group delivers solutions to customers within and beyond the Nordic region, with some shipments sent as far away as Japan and New Zealand.
“We have reached a point where we cannot keep up with demand unless we expand our production capacity,” confirms Michael Engsig, global logistics director at the NDI Group, who is responsible for the production expansion project. “We have had the ambition to expand our production already for some years. However, this summer, we finally managed to realise the plans. So now, we can start the building process and upgrade our equipment.”
Swift delivery & high quality
In recent years, the NDI Group has experienced steadily increasing interest from the agricultural industry and construction sector, as well as others in need of custom-made solutions for their machinery.
“We are experiencing a significant and still growing interest from farmers, who are interested in our solutions that are characterised by their high quality,” comments Jakob Nannberg Scheel, agricultural sales manager for the NDI Group. “We also offer many customisation opportunities to tailor our solutions to the customers’ individual needs to a very high degree. Finally, we also provide quick delivery. No matter if it is just a single set of rims or rims for an entire fleet.”
Additional export opportunities
Carsten Andersen, export manager for NDI’s agricultural department, also anticipates many opportunities worldwide as a result of the factory’s increased capacity. He points out that demand for the company’s rims comes from agricultural and industrial sector customers globally. “One of the reasons why customers choose us is the quick production time combined with our quality that is among the best in Europe,” he says, adding: “When we start using the new production facilities, it is our clear expectation that our delivery time will be even quicker, and we will be better able to deliver large orders. So, it will give us a stronger position on the global export markets.”
Besides producing specialised rim solutions, NDI Group is also the Nordic importer and distributor of the Alliance, Galaxy, and Primex tyre brands produced by Yokohama OHT.
