Michelin adds largest size to CrossGrip loader, small tractor tyre range
Michelin has introduced a new 540/80 R38 size in its CrossGrip tyre range for loaders, telehandlers and small tractors. The new model is the largest size in this all-season range, which is suitable for applications on road, grass and snow. The new CrossGrip fitment expands the range to 13 dimensions for original equipment and replacement fitment.
Gordon Brookes, Michelin’s customer engineering support manager, says: “Since we first launched the CrossGrip in 2018 it has proved a very popular choice for operators of backhoe loaders, telehandlers and small tractors. And we are happy to strengthen the range further with this latest size – which is the largest to date.
“The tyres work very well on a variety of surfaces – such as sports fields or grass verges – and are particularly effective on snow and ice, which is particularly relevant as we move into the winter months.”
Michelin CrossGrip features
The Michelin CrossGrip tyre is part of its Compact Line range. These tyres offer a high load capacity and special rubber formula designed for year-round use.
The CrossGrip’s non-directional tread pattern improves manoeuvring precision in forward or reverse gear. The optimised tread pattern, which contains multiple biting edges, delivers increased traction. Asymmetrical lateral blocks also help to improve grip in winter conditions. With 196 tread blocks per wheel rotation, the CrossGrip improves driver comfort by reducing vibration.
The Michelin CrossGrip is reinforced to improve puncture resistance. It can be studded for ice usage, while the tread depth has been optimised to reduce plant damage during the growing season.
