Giti Tire’s Martin Gibson rises to 2nd in BTRC
Giti Tire manager – EU Testing Centre and Motorsport UK, Martin Gibson will enter the penultimate round of the 2021 British Truck Racing Championship (BTRC) second in the title race, trailing the leader by only one point. Gibson secured the highest points tally at Snetterton, taking him to 254, after securing two victories, two third places, a sixth-place finish and two fastest laps across five races on the 2.9-mile circuit. His partner at Giti Tire Motorsport, Stuart Oliver secured second in race five to ensure a one-two finish. He also came third, fourth place twice and fifth.
Gibson started the weekend by laying a marker in the opening qualification session. He secured pole position with a 2:24:705 lap with an average speed of 73.86mph. The races included both standard and reverse grid formats. The championship continues at Pembrey on 9-10 October and concludes at Brands Hatch on 6-7 November.
Gibson and Oliver race on Giti Race-Tuned v1 global competition truck tyres in size 315/70R22.5. Giti says the tyres were pushed to the limits across a weekend which stayed mostly dry before the circuit was soaked prior to and throughout the final race. They are available to purchase throughout Europe via Truck Sport UK.
Gibson said: “It’s been another fantastic weekend’s racing, and with two meetings to go I’ll keep pushing as hard as I can, safe in the knowledge the Giti Race-Tuned v1s will keep me on track.”
