Giti Tire’s Gibson in contention for BTRC crown after podium finishes

Two British Truck Racing Championship podium finishes and a fastest lap at Pembrey mean Giti Tire’s Martin Gibson will enter the final race weekend at Brands Hatch just five points behind the leader.

Gibson, Giti Tire’s manager – EU Testing Centre and Motorsport UK, said: “Pembrey is a tight, technical track so there’s always lots of pushing and shoving, the number of collisions and retirements over the weekend definitely gave the large crowd lots of entertainment.

“The circuit also highlights the exceptional qualities of the Giti Race-Tuned v1 tyres which are placed under immense pressures and which continue to perform.”

At Pembrey Gibson suffered a shattered brake disc in qualifying meaning he had to start from the rear of the grid in race one, coming through a clustered field to finish ninth. Over the next four races, which included both standard and reverse grid starts, he secured first, fifth, fifth and second to keep pressure on the Championship frontrunner with the final meet of the season at Brands Hatch on 6-7 November.

His partner at Giti Tire Motorsport, Stuart Oliver overcame no less than three in-race collisions and still managed to secure both a first and second place finish across the five races.
