Hankook: UK/Europe unaffected by US OE tyre recall

Following the news that Hankook Tire America Corporation is recalling up to 7,026 Kinergy GT H436 235/50 R19H tyres manufactured between 30 January 2021 and 6 February 2021, company representatives based on this side of the Atlantic have confirmed that none of the affected tyres have ever been sold in the UK or indeed Europe as a whole.

In answer to Tyres & Accessories questions, a company spokesperson gave the following statement:

“The product affected by this small recall is Hankook Kinergy GT, and the size is North American Original equipment for GM. It has never been sold in the European market (neither in the UK nor elsewhere).”

The Hankook recall follows another recall affecting GM back in November 2020. Then eight models of GM-built Chevy, Cadillac, Buick and GMC vehicles were affected by Continental’s decision to recall thousands of tyres.
