Dunlop tyres OE on latest Landcruiser
Toyota has a new flagship SUV that it will sell in 170 countries and regions around the world – but not in the UK or Western Europe. This 13th generation of the Toyota Landcruiser is called the Landcruiser 300, and the Japanese manufacturer considers it a “complete redesign” of the 2007-launched 200 series. Sumitomo Rubber Group continues as a key supplier and will provide the Landcruiser 300 with two Dunlop tyre models.
Reporting the original equipment arrangement, Sumitomo Rubber Industries (SRI) shares that it has already begun shipping the Dunlop Grandtrek AT23 as a size 265/65R18 114V fitment and the Dunlop Grantrek PT5A in 265/55R20 109V for the Landcruiser 300.
“Over the years, the Sumitomo Rubber Group has supplied factory standard tyres for many generations of Land Cruiser,” comments SRI. “In developing these new tyres for the Land Cruiser 300, we drew upon the advanced technologies that we have cultivated through years of developing off-road tyres and SUV tyres, as well as our extensive knowhow when it comes to market needs, all while working hand-in-hand with Toyota Motor Corporation to perfect tyres fit for the next generation of the Land cruiser Series.”
SRI adds that “in addition to providing the same high levels of durability, reliability and various other basic performance traits as one would expect of Land Cruiser tyres,” the Dunlop Grantrek AT23 & PT5A “also feature a new tread compound that provides greatly improved performance when it comes to fuel efficiency and wear resistance.” The tyre maker adds that when developing the Grantrek PT5A, it “harnessed cutting-edge simulation technology to develop a new tread pattern that optimises the distribution of stress throughout the tyre footprint for superior performance when it comes to noise and steering stability.”
