Sailun Tyre sponsors Olympic windsurfer
With the Olympic Games opening ceremony underway, Sailun Tyre has released details of its sponsorship of windsurfing medal hope, Kiran Badloe. The 26-year-old Dutch windsurfer’s collaboration with Sailun and their local Benelux distributor, TTI Tire Trading, was sealed at sea off the coast of Scheveningen and TTI MD Peter-Alexander van ‘t Hof, is also a keen windsurfer.
Badloe is a 26-year-old Dutch athlete. At the age of 7, Kiran moved with his parents to Bonaire (a Dutch municipality island in the Leeward Antilles in the Caribbean), where he took up windsurfing. At the age of 9 he entered his first Regatta. Moving back to Almere in 2004, he continued with his passion (even in much cooler waters). He won the gold medal in the men‘s event at the 2019 RS:X World Championships and 2020 RS:X World Championships. In October 2020, he competed at the iQFoil International Games held at Campione, Lake Garda.
An initial component of the sponsorship agreement has been the production of several social media physical exercise videos. These will be available in July via Instagram – #FITWITHKIRAN – and will include four separate beach-based physical challenges undertaken by Kiran – utilising Sailun tyres. The four episodes are: push ups; squats; sit ups; and mountain climbers. Further parts of the sponsorship journey will be developed and issued in the forthcoming months.
Three-time windsurfing World Champion, and potential gold medal-winner in Tokyo, Badloe commented: “Thanks to this sponsor I can fully focus on the Tokyo Games. During the run-up to the Games, I am financially supported by Sailun. That gives me the peace and space I need to prepare myself optimally for Tokyo.”
