Pirelli introducing Cinturato Winter 2
Pirelli appears to be well-positioned for the upcoming winter. In addition to its existing P Zero Winter ultra-high-performance tyre, Scorpion Winter SUV and crossover range and its Carrier Winter line for vans and light commercial vehicles, the tyre maker is now introducing a new winter product for medium-sized cars and crossovers – the Pirelli Cinturato Winter 2.
The impending arrival of a successor to the Cinturato Winter was first announced during the launch of Pirelli’s Cinturato All Season SF2 earlier this year. Pirelli says the Cinturato Winter 2 offers top performance in snowy and wet conditions, along with a high level of driving comfort.
The Pirelli tyre development team utilised advanced virtual reality systems in order to optimise the tread of the Cinturato Winter 2 in order to maximise contact with the road surface. The result, says Pirelli, is a tyre that “is perfectly balanced and generates even pressure for greater grip and shorter braking distances in wet and snowy conditions.” This simultaneously improves the vehicle’s controllability and driving precision, the tyre maker adds. The tyre’s compound and tread design also work to reduce the risk of aquaplaning.
Pirelli will offer Cinturato Winter 2 in 36 dimensions for 16- to 20-inch rim diameters. Some of these will carry the ‘Elect’ marking, denoting their particular suitability for fitment on electric vehicles.
