New Sava Series 5 truck tyre range
Goodyear has launched a new truck tyre range in Europe under its Sava sub-brand. It offers the new Sava Series 5 as the Avant 5 steer axle tyre, Orjak 5 for the drive axle and Cargo 5 for trailers and semi-trailers. With the range, the tyre maker is targeting transport companies who require robust, reliable tyres for year-round use in all weather conditions.
All models are 3PMSF ‘snowflake’ marked in every available size, and according to the manufacturer, all Series 5 tyres offer high mileage potential, durability and versatility for a wide range of applications, from long-distance and regional transportation to inner-city use. It adds that a wear- and injury-resistant tread and robust casing enable hauliers to reduce their operating costs.
Sava Avant 5
The Sava Avant 5 steer axle tyre features a 5-rib tread design with solid shoulder ribs for low, uniform wear, increased injury resistance and high resistance to tread cracks and chipping. Heavily-siped wave-shaped groove and sipe contours offer improved traction and braking capabilities and ensure high wear resistance, even during short use cycles on challenging road surfaces.
With four per cent greater rubber volume than the prior generation tyre, the Sava Avant 5 offers an additional millimetre of tread depth for improved injury resistance and increased mileage potential.
High load construction gives selected Avant 5 sizes increased loadbearing capacity; the manufacturer considers these tyres particularly suitable for the latest generation of vehicles whose steering axle is exposed to increased loads through electric drive.
Sava Orjak 5
The Sava Orjak 5 drive axle tyre offers a non-directional 5-rib tread profile for even pressure and force distribution, which elevates high mileage potential. Numerous sipes promote traction in all weather conditions. Half-open shoulder ribs with stiffeners ensure high traction thanks to good water drainage and reduced shoulder wear, as well as excellent damage resistance.
Sava Cargo 5
Goodyear says it gave the Sava Cargo 5 for trailers and semi-trailers a robust construction with a high mileage potential; all sizes are 3PMSF marked. An increased volume of base rubber reduces the risk of casing damage and increases the tyre’s retreadability. Deep sipes reach up to two thirds of the full tread depth, forming form additional gripping edges that interlock with the road surface for improved wet grip and short braking distances over the entire service life of the tyre. The cool running, highly abrasion-resistant tread compound reduces the Sava Cargo 5’s rolling resistance and enables price-conscious transport companies to increase fuel efficiency and mileage.
