Goodyear tyres for Cupra Formentor VZ5

Cupra has selected Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport tyres as the original equipment fitment on the most powerful car the Seat high-performance subsidiary has ever made, the Formentor VZ5. It will fit the Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport to the Formentor VZ5 in size 255/35R20.

Producing 390 hp from its 5-cylinder engine, the Formentor VZ5 is Cupra’s flagship model, leading the Formentor sports crossover range. Cupra will only build 7,000 units of the Formentor VZ5, making this model particularly exclusive.

For its most powerful model ever, Cupra requested from Goodyear a UUHP (ultra ultra high performance) tyre with excellent dry handling behaviour, short braking distances and very good wet handling. Using the Eagle F1 SuperSport as a base, Goodyear worked alongside Cupra for 18 months to develop a tyre specifically adjusted for the Formentor VZ5’s requirements.

Goodyear says the tyre’s performance credentials are possible due to a number of technical innovations, including a massive closed outside pattern to improve dry performance and cornering and the super stiff sidewall design for handling and stability.

As exclusive tyre supplier to Pure ETCR, the world’s first all-electric multi-brand touring car championship, and WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup, Goodyear provides racing versions of the Eagle F1 SuperSport to teams racing the electric Cupra e-Racer in PURE ETCR and the Cupra León Competición in WTCR.
