Rare Toyota Supra TRD equipped with Yokohama high performance tyres
A rare and valuable Toyota Supra Mk4 TRD 3000GT featured in a hit YouTube video has been fitted with Yokohama’s high performance Advan A052 tyres. With a view count over 900,000 in a few weeks, motoring journalist Mat Watson gives the striking Advan-liveried car and its tyres a thorough workout in a series of tests which showcase the car’s capabilities.
Only 35 Supra Mk4 TRD 3000GT were ever made and the number 29 model is one of only 16 remaining in the world today. The car has been tuned by enthusiast, Billy Akhtar, who has added a host of upgrades inside, on the outside and under the bonnet. The car’s power has been increased from its original 326bhp up to 700bhp.
Speaking about the upgrades and the decision to fit Yokohama’s A052 tyres, Billy said, “I wanted to create the world’s fastest TRD Supra. We’ve used the best parts throughout – everything on it is the best so it’s only natural that we selected Yokohama tyres which came highly recommended.”
Further demonstrating the appeal of Yokohama’s Advan A052 tyres for high performance applications, the tyre is fitted as original equipment by Lotus on its Elise Cup 250 model. Indeed, Yokohama recently celebrated 20 years of lineside fitment by the iconic British sports car manufacturer.
Lotus is just one of many vehicle manufacturers such as Audi, BMW, Mercedes-AMG and Porsche to select Yokohama tyres as original equipment for their high-performance models. Indeed, the very latest BMW M3 and M4 models will be fitted with Yokohama’s Advan Sport V107 tyres as original equipment.
Yokohama’s Advan Sport in V105 pattern is also the high-performance tyre of choice for a large number of premium vehicle manufacturers. The tyre, which is available in sizes from 16-23”, is ideally suited to the powerful and sporty driving dynamics of many high performance, rear-wheel, all-wheel drive and executive saloon and SUV vehicles.
Another street-legal tyre from the range is the Advan Neova AD08RS. Updated to offer the very highest standard of stability and control, its design and performance compliment tuning cars, club racers and hot hatches. The Neova AD08RS is available in sizes from 15-19”.
Yokohama’s other high-performance range model is the Advan Fleva V701, available in sizes from 15 to 20”. The tyre provides optimum handling and steering stability, as well as impressive wet grip and noise reduction. It targets enthusiast tuned, sporty cars as well as standard saloon and compact cars.
Visitors to The Classic festival, held at Silverstone from 30 July to 1 August, will be able to see Akhtar’s spectacular Supra on display on the Yokohama stand.
