Michelin grows TrailXBib range
Seven new sizes join the Michelin TrailXBib line-up this month, increasing this specifically-developed range for trailed agricultural equipment to nine dimensions in total.
Michelin developed the TrailXBib in association with farmers, and testing conducted by the tyre maker (in size 650/55 R26.5) shows that it offers improved performance compared with prior-generation Michelin CargoBib. “Agricultural transport is one of the most destructive stages of the crop cycle for soils, but with its ability to work at very low pressure, the Michelin TrailXBib tyre protects the soil by limiting its compaction and thus ensures better agronomic yields,” comments Michelin
TrailXBib proven popular in UK
Speaking about the addition of the new sizes, Gordon Brookes, customer engineering support manager for Michelin’s agricultural division, says: “When the TrailXBib was launched last year it was the result of discussions with our agricultural customers in many countries. It has proved very popular in the UK and we are happy to now introduce these additional sizes, meaning more machinery can benefit from the tyre’s qualities.
“The TrailXBib offers great longevity and endurance and will help our customers keep ground compaction to a minimum, protecting their crops and ultimately improving their yields.”
Michelin says the TrailXBib offers four main benefits:
• Casing design meeting the VF (Very high Flexion) standard, which enables the tyre to carry up to 40 per cent more weight than a standard tyre at ISO-recommended pressure. On the other hand, at ISO-load, it can work at lower pressures allowing better protection of the soil.
• A highly efficient self-cleaning tread pattern, which is especially effective in muddy conditions and therefore reduces mud deposited on roads after fieldwork.
• A central tread rib to ensure regular wear and safe on-road handling.
• Michelin Ultraflex technology in the casing design to resist damage, particularly when operating at low inflation pressures. In addition to resisting damage, Ultraflex ensures even weight distribution through the tire contact patch and high levels of soil protection.
The TrailXBib tyre range trailed implements enables farmers to equip their entire convoy with Michelin Ultraflex technology VF tyres. From the tractor axles with the AxioBib 2, XeoBib and YieldBib ranges to the trailer axles with TrailXBib, users can optimise the efficiency of their operation throughout the crop cycle.
The Michelin TrailXBib range is also fully compatible with remote inflation systems that allow the operator to easily adjust tyre pressures, including on trailed equipment, in real-time and according to the driving surface or soil conditions.
The seven new Michelin TrailXBib sizes are:
