Hyundai Motorsport names Liqui Moly as Customer Racing Official Supplier
Hyundai Motorsport has named Liqui Moly as an Official Supplier for the Customer Racing department’s race and rally projects. The German oil and additive specialist delivers more than 80 products to the Hyundai workshop in Alzenau (Germany). There, they are used to configure and prepare the vehicles.
As part of the cooperation, Liqui Moly’s quality products are used for the Hyundai i20 R5, the new Hyundai i20 N Rally2 and also the successful Hyundai i30 N TCR, Hyundai Veloster N TCR and Hyundai Elantra N TCR touring cars. In addition to motor, gear and hydraulic oils, the product range also includes almost 80 other items. It will also support the ongoing testing and development of the cars offered to privateer teams and drivers by Hyundai Motorsport Customer Racing.
This takes on an extra significance with both the Hyundai Elantra N TCR and Hyundai i20 N Rally2 entering their first competitive events during the 2021 season. The first of the new TCR cars debuted in the USA in January, and will race in series worldwide including WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup, TCR Europe, TCR South America and at the Nürburgring 24 Hours. The Hyundai i20 N Rally2 is currently undergoing extensive testing ahead of planned homologation this summer.
Liqui Moly joining as an Official Supplier deepens the relationship between the Customer Racing department and the company. A long-standing partner of championship-winning TCR customer Engstler Motorsport, the German firm already serves as title sponsor for Engstler Hyundai N Liqui Moly Racing team who will take on their second season in FIA WTCR this year, with the Hyundai Elantra N TCR.
Liqui Moly Marketing Director Peter Baumann said: “We are really proud that Hyundai Motorsport Customer Racing has chosen Liqui Moly as official supplier to build and prepare their customer cars for race and rally. So this is a perfect fit for both parties”.
