Halfords Autocentres joins NTDA
Halfords Autocentres has joined the National Tyre Distributors Association (NTDA), bringing all of its 358 branches into the NTDA network. The NTDA has also confirmed that in line with the ‘Rules of the Association’, Halfords Autocentres will also have two representatives joining the NTDA’s executive council, the governing body of the association.
NTDA Chief Executive Stefan Hay said: “This is truly fantastic news for the Association. The NTDA has an increasingly broad church of members ranging from local independent family run tyre retailers to all of the key national automotive aftercare chains and from international tyre manufacturers to the leading tyre wholesalers in the UK.
Following the acquisition of two of our leading members; McConechy’s Tyre and Autocentres in 2019 and Universal Tyre and Autocentres earlier this year, we believe that Halfords Autocentres now joining the NTDA, is further demonstration of its stated commitment to becoming a major player in the UK tyre retail and distribution market and we are now looking forward to working with the Halfords team to ensure both parties gain tangible benefit from this membership.”
Halfords has previously stated its ambition of having over 550 autocentres in the UK and with the purchase of Tyres on the Drive in 2019 and the aforementioned acquisitions of McConechys and Universal, has also become a significant player in the commercial tyre management and mobile response markets with 185 commercial vans, and 146 Halfords Mobile Expert vans operating across the Autocentres business.
Halfords Autocentres director Robin Shaw said: “We are very pleased to be extending our membership of NTDA to the entire Halfords Autocentres business. This reflects not just our growing presence in the tyre trade, but our ambition to establish ourselves as the largest and most trusted motoring services provider in the UK.”
