No damage from fire at Borbet production facility
Wheel manufacturer Borbet says that production is continuing “without disruption” after a fire at its Solingen site in Germany. Fire services were called out on Tuesday to deal with a thermal reaction in an outside IPC container in which aluminium sludge was stored for disposal.
Borbet reports that “no one was harmed in the process and nothing was destroyed.” Indeed, the thermal reaction didn’t cause a fire, even though it resulted in significant steam emissions and noise. Firefighters pulled apart and opened the IPC containers and supervised them during the cooldown period.
“Thanks to the professional cooperation with the local fire brigade and the prudent approach of our officers, the situation was quickly overlooked. We are glad that our emergency procedures worked excellently and no one was injured,” comments plant manager Kai Berger.
