RMA quits BIPAVER, Vaculug joins as individual member
The association representing the UK’s retreading industry is no longer a member of European retreading trade association BIPAVER. According to the Retread Manufacturers Association (RMA), its departure from BIPAVER on 31 December 2020 is unrelated to Brexit.
BIPAVER statues permit individual companies to become members in cases where they aren’t represented by a national association. Grantham-based retreader Vaculug Tyres Ltd. availed itself of this rule and is now an individual member of BIPAVER. As a result of Vaculug’s individual membership, Brian Barron, who manages the retreader’s Grantham plant, remains a member of the BIPAVER technical committee.
The RMA amalgamated with the British Tyre Manufacturers’ Association (BTMA) in April 2018, initially for a three-year trial period. The new partners joined forces in order to “build a stronger platform to represent retread manufacturing in the UK.”
