Kerr’s Tyres buys MW Tyres & Exhausts

Northern Ireland-based Kerr’s Tyres Group has bought MW Tyres & Exhausts for an undisclosed sum. MW Tyres & Exhausts has been rebranded as MW Tyres & Auto and will now offer the 24/7 365 UK & Ireland coverage offered by Kerr’s Tyres Group. As a result of the acquisition, Kerrs Group now operates from 12 sites in Northern Ireland and four sites in the Greater Dublin region. MW Tyres have been trading for the past 28 years from Ballyclare. Current owner Michael Workman is retiring after more than 40 years in the tyre industry. According to the new owner, Kerr’s have retained the current staff and are recruiting further so “customer service levels can be maintained and further services introduced”.

The latest deal follows a number of other acquisitions in recent years, which form part of an overall growth strategy and which supports plans to strengthen Kerr’s Tyres’ current retail network throughout Ireland.

James McKee Kerrs Group commercial director said: “The centre will geographically strengthen the Kerr’s network and improve service levels with existing customers in the area, helping to provide a robust pipeline to fuel our companies’ future growth. We will continue to respond to the market conditions and the acquisition confirms the importance of retail to the Kerr’s Group business”.
